Let's get back to simple
solutions for problems that are solved - simply. Consider all the
illegal drugs that permeate our society today. Why not make any
connection with illegal drugs result in the Death Penalty? And, the
sentence date for the execution of those individuals should not be shorter than
or exceed one calendar year.
No matter what age or walk of life, if you involve
yourself with illegal drugs, you are going to die...simple as that! And I
don't mean the obvious here, that is by overdose, or being killed by some drug
gang; I mean after a trial in which you are found guilty of your crime, you are
given one year to sort out the legalities, try for a re-trial or a new trial,
find more supporting evidence, use lawyer shenanigans, etc. Then
when all options have been legally exhausted during that 12 months, you
die. No more appeals...because if over one whole year, nothing has been
found that would delay or cancel your sentence, time has run out.
Whether you buy or
sell or use, if you are involved with illegal drugs of any kind then you
qualify for the death penalty. The taxpayer will no longer have
to support you in jail for years to the tune of $30,000 a
year. You will be gone so no need to house, cloth, feed,
entertain you for long periods, only to have you leave after 5 or 10 years and
return to your former habit, a habit that has been supported and feed while you
are in jail to help keep you under control. You made a choice...now at least
have the guts to pay the penalty.
And, for that one year in jail, no entertainment, no
TV, no work out rooms, no telephone, no contact with the outside world, no
privacy, nothing that does not mean hard time.
That is what
jail should be, a total absence of all the things you enjoyed before
incarceration. Maybe we should bring back the Chain-Gangs to keep
prisoners so tired they can't cause trouble. We need jails to be the
last place any human being should want to return to, given a choice
of obeying the law or breaking it. I am not talking about sadistic
treatment here, but no more molly-coddling either.
So, if a person smokes or sniffs or swallows or sells
or imports or whatever - illegal drugs, they will know that at some point they
will be caught tried and will die for it. Maybe, just maybe they might
just consider this when making that wrong choice.
I wonder how many high school kids would choose to
smoke Grass if they knew they would be shot, hanged, electrocuted or given the
needle when they are caught? Maybe, the parents would finally pay
attention, unless of course, they are on designer drugs themselves.
The way we are handling criminals nowadays is
obviously not working. And, when something doesn't work you either fix it
or throw it away.
Ok, now all you goody-two-shoes and bleeding-hearts
can tell me how inhuman or unfeeling I am. Go ahead, I have heard it all
before and I read the results of your method of handling criminals every
day in the headlines.
